1.france has a republic, which means that the people choose people to vote for them, they don't vote themselves. isreal is a multipaty republic , which is the same thing as a republic, but with more people with different veiws.

2. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1242212380836&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
this article is about how the french feel where isreal and palestine are concerned. acording to the article, the french don't suport isreal, but they don't really blame the people as much as the government.according to many polls, they blame the government and the military, but do not support military action to combet them. most people want to set sanctions or solve the issuediplomaticly, with words instead of weapons.

3. the options for this articleare difficult, because, well, it's an article on a poll. i think that maybe the french could think about both sides of this a little more, and make a contious choice, but that's about it. i agree with many of their options though, like not using weapons against isreal or disagreeing with any premptive strikes on either side.

4. eh, i'm going to say what about the things fraance thinks would or wouldnt work, because once again, there are not many solutions in a poll. i think that their beleif that isreal is bad is a mistake, as is their attempt not to get ingaged with them so as not to be warred on. i think if they, at the least talk nicely and dont suggest putting santions up, they wont be attacked. but, who knows, maybe crawling into a hole and running out once in a while to poke the enemy with a stick works.

5. i think france is going to keep thinking the same way it does, and it will bite them in the butt. they don't think about things all the way through. it's much better to be neutral to both parties then to be friends with the good guys.

1. pakistan is a federal rebublic, which means the central government is restricted and diferent provinces have minor self governing bodies, and paople can vote

2. http://www.reuters.com/article/homepageCrisis/idUSISL461014._CH_.2400
this article is about pakistan. the pakistani soliers have pushed 1.17 million people out of their homes in attempts to stop the taliban. the u.n. said that everyone should hepl pakistan, and fast

3. their are, as always, countless options. the two major ones, however, are that they could stop or they could continue. if they stop, and allow the u.n. to help, then they will get their homes bacj and be safer, but the oh so dangerous taliban will get to be around and effect the inocent pakistani minds. if they continue trying to wipe out the taliban, and succeed, then the taliban will be gone. except noone will have a house, and more people will try to revolt, probably becoming worse then the taliban.

4. i think, idealy, pakistan's army should give up and just let the taliban be. if they find a specific person, then they can kill him or crucify him or whatever they want, but it servs no point to hurt everyone in the country to kill one person so he can't hurt people. that is called a vicious cycle, and it always ends badly.

5. i think, realisticly, the pakistani army will not listen to me and will continue. more people will join the taliban, since their the only ones not being hurt by this- at least not more then normal. therefore, pakistan is not using it's brain, but they will find that out when they are overrun or revolted against.

1. this article also discussed Myanmar, whose government is a military regime. you can read my previous current event for more info on the history of Myanmar.

2. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article6334905.ece
this article was about Ban Ki Moon's response to Aung San Suu Kyi's trial. the united nations secretory general announced his plans to take a trip to Myanmar and demand the release of all political prisoners, including Suu Kyi. Ban Ki Moon plans to meet with Myanmar's government officials to discuss the situation. the UN has received much critic on their lack of action concerning Myanmar's corrupt government and officials. Mr. Ban expressed the UN's full support of Suu Kyi and her belief in democracy and their trust in her.

3. while the UN is not a nation, per say, they do have a few options on how to deal with the criticisms they have been receiving. these include listening to what critics have to say and their ideas, then taking these into consideration. the UN could also stand up for their actions and continue handling the situation in a way that they feel is best.

4. i don't think that these solutions are really solutions, but only paths the UN could take in addressing the criticism for their lack of action in Myanmar.

5. i think that the UN will always be criticized. i hope that they will be able continue their work despite the negative attitudes of unappreciative people.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iraq-bombing22-2009may22,0,7732255.story

1. Iraq is a parliamentary democracy. the U.S has a constitution-based federal republic.

2. This article talks about the recent attacks in Iraq. Three American soldeirs on foot patrol were killed Thursday. whithin twenty-four hours, sixty people were slain. The Americans were killed in the south Baghdad neighborhood of Dora by a roadside bomb that detonated near their patrol. Five U.S soldiers were wounded and a dozen Iraqis were killed. In the northern city city of Kirkuk, eight members of the Awakening were killed Thursday by a suicide bomber as they lined up at an Iraqi army base to collect their paychecks. Kirkik is claimed by competing ethnic groups and is one of the areas where it is feared that violence could rise after U.S troops complete their scheduled withdrawal from Iraq's cities June 30. The U.S military says the insurgents no longer have the ability to sustain prolonged bombing campaigns and they're focusing their efforts on the kinds of attacks cause large numbers of casualties.

3. many Iraqis fear that violence will rise after the withdrawal of U.S. There really isnt a lot to do because the U.S troops want to go home and they cant saty there forever. the options they have are to give up because they no longer have the help and let the violence take over, or try to stop this from happening.

4. The best option is pretty obvious. Iraq can stregthen their police and maybe put more police in the cities that are usaully bombed.

5. i think that these bombing will stop someday but it will take a while. i just hope that not a lot people are killed.

1. Sri Lanka has a republic from of government. A republic is a representative democracy in which the people's elected deputies (representatives), not the people themselves, vote on legislation. Main leader of this republic is cheif of state, President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/05/22/sri.lanka.victory.parade/index.html
2.Citizens of Sri Lanka celebrated and dancedthroughtout the streets to the end of 25 year-old civil war between the government of Sri Lanka and the Tamil Tigers. The Sri Lankan government declared victory last Tuesday. Many of the Humanitarian organizations expressed fear over the 250,000 refugees in the northeastern region that resulted from the civil war. U.N. Secretariat-General has blamed the government of Sri Lanka that they have not provided enough aid to the refugees.

3. Well the sim[ple solution to this problem would be to provide aid to the refugess through governmental cooperation. The government of Sri Lanka should allow the refugees rebuild their destructed lives back up.

4. The U.N. might have a reason to deny humanitarian aid to the refugees when the country itself can provide it. However, there are thousands of people going without shelter and food. The government should be a diplomatic and well govern country and provide these refugees with aid.

5. I beleive that many of the cvil wars that will take place all arounf the worl will have the similar effect. The country will belittle the opposing side of the war and not provide aid to them. It is a never ending cycle that i personally beleive should be broken.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/05/21/iraq.attack/index.html

1. Iran has a theocratic republic form of government. This is a system of government in which the leader of the government is thought to have divine guidance.

2. 3 U.S. soldiers among at least 15 people were killed in a bombing on their patrol. 12 civilians were killed and 25 were wounded. Also, there was another attack at a police station with 2 police officers killed and 20 people were wounded by a bomb hidden in a trashcan. In another attack, 5 people were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded on a Thursday morning. The attack in the report were that 7 Awakening Council members were killed with 7 others wounded.

3. I think that an option for Iran is to try to snuff out the bombers and bring them to justice because they only thing they are doing is making the peoples lives, as bad as they are, even badder. Another option is to strengthen the security in Iran. However, in the state that Iran is in right now, I think that it is very hard to do an action like that.

4. I think that the international community should come into play with this state to help the people of Iran and the snuff out all the "bad" people and bring them to justice.

5. I think that the U.S. troops will be more weary about the bombings and the bombings else where in the state will continue because really little people living there can do much about it.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/05/18/zimbabwe.world.bank/index.html

1. Zimbabwe has a parliamentary democracy form of government. Parliamentary democracy is a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them.

2. This article is about Zimbabwe getting loans from several places. A senior of the World Bank announced that Zimbabwe will get $22 million for the purpose of repairing its economy. Also, Germany says that Germany will also help Zimbabwe's economy by donating 13.5 million to Zimbabwe.

3. Well, I think that clearly the only option for Zimbabwe is spend the money. (duh!) However, a sub-option for Zimbabwe to do is to support the things it has in mind more than other things. For example, to support the economy more than it would the government for the purpose of repairing the economy.

4. I think a solution for Zimbabwe is to spend the $35.5 million dollars that they loaned from the other countries on their economy because their economy has taken a huge down turn as they have been in a 10 year recession.

5. I think that this money they have gained will help them drastically. However, if the government is corrupt, then bad things for Zimbabwe's people and the international community will happen and maybe the international community will have to intervene if this happens.

1. The Israeli people have a democratic rule. The democratic rule is rooted in the following principles and institutions: basic laws that lay down the order of government and of the citizens' rights; the holding of elections to the house of representatives and to municipal councils every few years, following which, a central government and local authorities are set up, based on the principle of the rule of the majority, with the rights of the minority guaranteed by law; the principle of the separation between the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judiciary, to which the institution of state control has been added; freedom of the press.

2.The country of Israel has just been issuing many emergency war drills. They are afraid of the growing threat of war against the country of Iran. They have had air raid drills and other such drills for everyone.

3. I think that Israeli should attempt to solve their problems with Iran without using force and war. War would only lead to the death and worse economy for both of the countries. To stop the starvation of their people, the countries should solve their problems without using force.

4. The only solution I see is for Israeli to talk things out with Iran and avoid the war if at all possible. Starting a war is the last thing any country needs right now.

5. I predict that Iran will eventually attack and start a war with Israel. This is wort of inevitable because the Israelis have hated the Iranians for so long.

1. North Korea's government is a communist state one-man dictatorship. This means that one man holds all the power. In North Korea's case that man is Lee Myung-bak.

2. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,523637,00.html
This website gave me the article about how North Korea has just tested out, in secrecy, their new missile. This is currently a very big problem for US's allies such as Japan . These new missiles can travel all the way to Alaska. But this is no major threat because we have very many anti-missile batteries. Also we are very much capable of launching nukes and much more more devastating weapons into North Korea. But other countries may be threatened by North Korea.

3. The choices that other nations can do to avoid a war is talking over with North Korea why they are testing out such long ranged missiles and if they will immediately stop the production of the missiles as well as not develop other weapons or missiles. Another thing we can do is launch nukes into North Korea and end the problem for once and for all.

4. since we cannot risk a nuclear war, we cannot launch the nukes into North Korea. And if we cannot do that, then we can only talk to them and hope that we can persuade them to stop the producing of weapons such as missiles.

5. I think that this issue will not last. North Korea will not want to talk or make up some BS excuse of why they cannot stop the making of these missiles. The last thing that North Korea wants is to stop the production of missiles and not seem like a threat.
