After watching Tankman:1. What can we learn from "Tankman?" What do you think happened to him?
2. what do you think are the most vital concerns facing the Chinese government and what will they do about them?
3. What is "China A," and "China B" and what is life like for each of those groups?
4. Should the United States continue to do business with China? Why or why not?
5. How can Chinese people gain their freedom from censorship?
Use at least 1 lengthy paragraph per question. Thanks!

1) I think that we call all learn, when mean we I mean as the human race, that shattered dreams and broken hearts will not always stop the determined. If at all, this is what energizes the determined; the fact that others are being hurt by their own people. Though I think "Tankman" was determined, I believe that the Chinese government were determined as well to find him and killed him.
2) I believe the most vital concern the Chinese government should worry is the fact that China's population is so enormous. We had watched how a tenth of the population had protest in 1989. So now imagine how the population is two decades later; China's population has grown spontanously after that. I don't really their government could do much to stop the surplus population.
3) China A consist of factory workders in cities, while China B consist fo farmers. Both Chinas are pratically the same life. China A factory workers work in large cities such as Beijin are working for major companies and being paid extrordinary compared to China B. Though they're being paid handsomely, most are still mistreated China B farmers are the class of people who send their children to live in China A so they won't have to labor work. Even though farmers provide basic needs for a country, they are still underlooked.
4) The best thing right now for the United States would have to keep doing busissnes with China. China is the number one provider for many wealthy nations. Without China, both nation's economy would dramatically collapse
5) The best way for the Chinese people to gain freedom is by smuggling reporters to the real life dangerments of China. This had worked before, and the outcome was the creation of China A. If reporters can constantly give world wide news of human mistreatment in China, this would cause other nations to be involved with China's policy.

1. Tankman is officialy my hero :). He's a rallying icon for all corageous people and he stands up for what is right. He was so brave to do that and i'm so amazed by his strength. I'm sure that the government doesn't have tankman because if they did they'd love to shove it in everyone's faces "see! we got the evil rebel and killed him! anyone else who tries this shall die muahahaha!!!" and so on. So I believe that he hasn't been caught and is living quietly somewhere, and I wish him best of luck in his life.
2. I think China's government needs to worry about another rebellion pretty soon because communication has become a huge part of today's society. If people inside China who live there realize how their government really is they will get angry again and demand rights and so on. China also has to worry about its pollution, since its becoming one of the leading producers of pollution. China pretty much has everything to worry about. Child labour, their government losing power, economy, and angry laborers.
3. China A is the good China. This China is technologically advanced, economically advanced and pretty much like new york city but twenty times bigger or so. and with a lot more pollution. This china's people are well off and there are no slums or bad places. China B is the opposite, its farmland, disease ridden, poor working and living conditions, no health care no anything for these people. They are forced to nearly kill themselves working for mere pennies. China B's people mainly consists of workers and laborers. They are taken advantage of and put down constantly and are forced to sometimes travel across the whole country in search of work to pay for little siblings school or for their families.
4. If this question was one of morals, i would say that the US should stop trading with them immediately. little children and other poor people are worked dead to make these products in hazardous conditions. If it was a question of economy and wealth, then i suppose the US shouldn't stop trading with them. But its never a question of morals in the world lately, its always personal gain. So i suppose the US will kill millions of children and poor workers in China so we can have our plastic toys or shoes and whatnot.
5. Kill all the government leaders and put nice and caring and down to earth people in their place. I seriously doubt that will ever happen honestly because of the communism. Communism is such a lie and waste. China needs to start over and give everyone a chance, but sadly, no place in the world is like that. So as much as i wish it werent true, the Chinese people will never truly be free from oppression and censorship.

1. On June 4, 1994, a brave man silently protested his stand in the middle of the street in his home town. The only problem with his stand was that he was standing in front of a whole row of tanks, tanks that were ready to destroy him at a moment’s notice. Although he was just one man standing up for the safety of his town, he has taught the world a lesson. Many people who were there to observe the event were sure that this one civilian wasn’t going to stop China’s entire military force, but he did. We can learn a lot from Tank man. He has taught the world how to be enduring in the time of need. A person must be selfless in order to save others. He must have thought that he would most probably die if he did what he did. But he had the strength to do it anyway, even after weighing the risks. We all must believe in the cause that we are supporting, even if we know that the ideas we have can be controversial and cause harm to us in the end, we must stand by them as Tank man did to save his city and his people. I think the Tank Man did not want to have the press take pictures of him, because he didn’t feel that he was a hero, he just wanted people to know that even regular people can stand up for what they believe in.
2. At this time, China is facing many major issues. One of the issues is the overpopulation that has made the country decline. Since there are so many people, there are not enough jobs for everyone. Many people are forced to live in poverty. Another problem with the Chinese economy is the use of young children as workers. Since the older adults demand a higher pay, the government would rather take younger workers because they can work longer for less pay. Another problem in China is the lack of freedom of press. Just like in the other communist country, Russia, people are not allowed to publish or present any material to the public that contradict the ideas of the government. They have no rights that can help them express their points of view.
3. Due to the problems that China is facing, they have split into two different types of people that reside in the country. One of the people are the urban and wealthy people. These are the people that have the good life, and are rich enough to be able to afford anything that they want. These people are ruling over the ones that are not as rich, and these are the other type of people in China. The poor people are not able to get even the necessities that they need, and it becomes difficult for them even to pay for things that we all take for granted.
4. I think the United Stated should continue to trade with China, but I think they need to reconsider the products that are exported from that country. They need to have stricter rules for the companies that they ship their products from, and make sure that there are no child workers used for the products that are sold from those countries.
5. In order to gain freedom from censorship, the Chinese people need to revolt against the orders of their government. They have to become organized and fight for their rights, the right to express their opinions. If they are willing to fight, they will be able to achieve their freedom and the right to tell the world exactly what they think.

1. I think that everyone can learn a lot form Tank Man, however I think that Tank man shouldn’t be the only one “celebrated” I think all the people who died and demonstrated should be famous. I think that it is like what one interviewee said, tank man doesn’t stand for just that man he stands for all the students. I think we can learn bravery and stand-up-for-what-you-believe-inliness. However I really don’t know if he was a part of the fighting or whether as one of the interviewee said just sick of the killing and what the government was doing.
I think that Tank Man was executed. If the security ran into the journalist apartment and took away his film I think they would have captured the man and put him to death. If he is still alive I think that he is working as a factory worker. I do not think that he is part of a big time company.
2. I think the most vital concerns are the publicity and demonstrations of the people. To stop this they are cracking down like not allowing video cameras like those making this show. Also, making requirements that tell Google and yahoo no pictures of revolts. However when the show interviewed the three students and the man said 1989 but did not talk about it, I think that shows that yes the citizens are well aware of it but are not spreading it around. I think that citizens would be put in jail for spreading around because the government does not want another big demonstration like that. Besides, the state and the people already made a deal: Don’t mess with the politics and we will let you have economic capabilities.
The Chinese government will probably not allow free press. Free press would hurt them. I can’t really believe that they would even send out instructions to the press on how to write about the 60th anniversary of the Taimnen Square. Why would they even bring it up? If I was in the sate I would just say no anniversary so no press, because just talking about it would hurt the government more and maybe cause more revolts.
3. China A is the rich business part characterized as the developed country. China A is full of migrates who run their economy because they are cheap labor. Also the migrant instruction workers who work for the government are free labor. They bass says that they will be paid by the end of the year but don’t. Then the workers try and show disapproval by committing suicide on the construction. There are over 4000 who work in Dez Chang these migrants must have a job there or they are not allowed to be there. China A is full of people who are from China B trying to pay for the education of their children. China A has cities that focus on exports. For Example there is a city for sheets, towels, socks, etc. Those who work in the city are recruited. The key to getting a job is that you are young and healthy, so you can work faster. If the worker gets slower than his/hers fastest time he/she is fired. This is slavery to me because if the slave is slower than the usual amount of time the slave is whipped. When the worker gets too old he/she could walk out before they are fired too. These young adults are working $250 a month and 13 hr days with no day off. They live in hostels which are very small and must be same-sex, most have 14 people living in one room. These hostels are speechless. They are that disgusting and sad. China A’s problem is that they are facing higher criminal rates, and human rights violation.
China B is the developing country part. Their problems are that there are not enough water, no infrastcture, no education, and no health care. Those who are sick must depend on herbal and folklore. Children cannot be educated because you must pay for it. The amount is less than a penny in US dollars. However since 1989 there have been good changes like land owners are allowed to lease their land and their profit is double the amount that it was. This amount is not enough to live on though. In China B, there are a shortage of young adults since they all go to China A to get money to help their parents and children who are at China B. In china B they are revolts because the government tries to take away their land. There was proof of this by a citizen who took a video of a revolt and smuggled it out of the country.
Lives for each of the people are very bleak and heart breaking. They have absolutely no rights at all. If they speak out they are put in prison or exiled and declared as an enemy to the country.
4. I am really confused about whether or not the Unites states should stop doing business with China. On one hand we should stop because we are just helping the problem of no free press. Like what yahoo did with the journalist and I really liked how one US representative asked yahoo “would you tell the secret police if you knew where Ann frank was?” That statement really showed people that hey, this was horrible and yahoo should have consequence and that was exactly like the situation with An Frank. Doing Business with China is just helping their economy. Helping their economy gives them money to spend army supplies and detective devices. This brings up the fact that Cisco is totally wrong for selling devices to China. Cisco did understand what China would do if they got their hands on those devices. Also, if we stopped doing business with China it would help our economy greatly. It would really bring up our employment rates.
On the other hand we should continue doing business because it is helping the citizens survive. Putting the factories over there is providing citizen’s money that they could use for education and health care. I really don’t know what else doing business with them does to the people.
5. The Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship. One way, move to the United States. The other way: do another 1989. If they do another 1989 and stick with it I think they would all be killed. I don’t think that the government will ever back down unless a new regime would be put in place. People in China should just started revolting again but more unified like all of the citizens should go to the government at the same time. That would help throw the government off. However this would probably never happen because they do not have free press. I don’t think the people of China have any hope.

well, there are many things we can learn from Tankman. We can learn to stand up for what we believe in. Tankman believed that there was too much violence and he believed that something should be done. He stood up for peace and freedom. we can also learn that anyone can make a change in this world. He did so we can too! he inspired many people to stand up for what they believe in and alothough we never did know who this hereo was, i will always rememberhim as a symbol of freedom and hope. i think that the people that stopped him were civilians who tried to help him. at that time everyone helped eachother so they saw him in danger so they helped him. i like to believe that he is still out there and alive. i like to believe that he is keeping his identity out of the media because he doesnt want to take fame for what was right, rather than him hiding from the government beacuse of fear.
2. i think that the most vital concern facing the Chinese government is poor workers' rights. the workers do sooooo much work and work sooo many hours but don't even get paid half the money they should get. besides from money, they probably dont even get breaks. i dont think that the Chinese government will do anything about it because its been happing for sooo long.
3. China A is the side where nice buildings are and a bunch of technology is roaming the streets. China A is where they make China seem like its the best and coolest place ever.People's lives are relaxing and fun because they have the money to spend in nice food. China B, in the other hand, is completely different. China B is where the low class people live. its basically a place we know as a "ghetto". People work most of the days and sometimes dont even get paid. There are also the farmers where tis pretty much just like two family members because the others inb the family leave their home to get a job to send money home.
4. i think that the United States should stop making business with China. Our government does not have the same beliefs but we choose to negotiate with them because its cheaper! We are pretty much just selfish! We know that probably a little kid spent hours making our toys when he should be in school, but ignore because its much cheaper! i think that is we stop buying form China and tell them why we wont buy stuff from them, they will have to improve their habits just to keep getting money from us.
5. i think that a way to gain freedom is to follow the Tankman's footsteps.maybe if they all, including all the soldiers that want freedom and peace, stood up, they can win freedom for their people.

1. Tankman showed us that one man and a strong will for change can lead to a chain reaction that affects the whole world. When people see that one man has the courage to stand up to a tank, they realize tht they can do it too. I believe that he is still alive or else he died but not because of the government. the government would have displayed his death in public so people could learn their faith if they went against them.
2. The most vital concerns are human rights violations. I believe the Chinese government will not do anything about it because censorship is easy when the rest of the world isnt paying attention. This usually only affects the developing part of China and the working class thus China can keep it on the down low.
3.China A is the industrialized China. People her live in big cities and the cash flow is great. They are usually powerful(as in money) business people further expanding industry. China B is the developing China. People her are very poor and lack education and healthcare because it is expensive. China B lacks infrastructure and resources for people to actually advance in life.
4. No, In my personal opinion they shouldnt because it is going against what I believe in. What they are doing with stuff like human rights violations and censorship is completely wrong and if I were to choose I would not do business with them because its agaist what i was taught. I try not to associate myself with people who are so closed minded that they persecute those who speak their minds and go against the majority. To me the US is very hypocritical because we speak against all the things that China is doing bad yet we still do business with them. I understan why we do it though, we need that connection with them. China is excelling in technology and keeping in touch with them will help us exceed to.
5. I think censorship is a problem everyone suffers through because people will always find a reason to hide things from others. So i dont think the Chinese people will be able to gain their freedom from it. They can try by protesting and speaking against it but due to past occurences I doubt it will succeed.

TANKMAN
1) There are so many things that we can learn from the Tankman. He showed so much courage and pride for his country that people would not even dare express. He has showed the entire world that just one person can make a huge impact on the entire course of a government and a nation. His courage and bravery will be forever remembered by the Chinese civilians and the press because he was not brutally murdered like many before him. Although he knew that by opposing or trying to stop the army from coming in, he would definitely be murdered. However, he let go of this fear and went up against huge army tanks. I believe that Tankman is still out there in this world and he would still most likely still be in China. He has isolated himself by not showing his whereabouts and this is a very noble and courageous feat. If he was murdered, then we would know about it because the Chinese government would want the last hope for average civilians to be deceased in order to prevent any further rebellions.
2) The Chinese government faces several concerns each and everyday. China's government does not want to give the citizens of China too much power and freedom because they do not want any oppositions and rebellions. However they must give the civilians at least some kind of voice in order to maintain the title of "People's" Republic of China. Therefore, China must carefully monitor the actions of all civilians. Also the health problems such as pollution and such are great issues for the government and they must also deal with the conflict of overpopulation. However they have devised the One Child policy for this.
3) Although China seems to be a unified nation, half the country is the the total opposite of the other half. China A is the area of China where it is highly developed and urban. The cities are teeming with people and business and the skies are filled with great towers. People lead a somewhat decent and happy life and work is available for people. However the situation in China B is the complete opposite. There areas are the rural and poor parts of China. Most of the people are farmers and must would many hours a day in order to harvest crops and send them to the cities. Many health problems arise because there are no hospitals to take care of the sick and even if there are hospitals, people are too poor to pay the doctors. Overall, China A and B are completely different but the people in both areas still try their best to provide much for their families.
4) The United States must continue to do business with China. Since the labor is very cheap there, many people actually have jobs. Without American business factories and franchises in China, many people will be out of work and there will be a higher unemployment rate. So although the factory work is hard and laborious, it still pays some kind of money so more people are able to feed their families. In addition, if the USA stops cooperating with China then more international ties will be severed and this will be horrific for both the economies of both the USA and China. Although the situations in China are unethical, it is still crucial for the USA to maintain international ties with them.
5) It is unlikely that China will be able to gain freedom from censorship but there are some things that they can do in order to gain more freedom. If all the political leaders and civilians of China come together and hold an opposition, then the government might possibly listen. However, this might turn into another Tankman situation where the army comes in to destroy Beijing again. Also if people try to oppose the government, then the government will have no choice but to injure their own public like before. In addition, I believe that it is important for the public of China to unite and ask for help from other nations if they can in order to solve some of their problems. Overall the current situation in China is stable but not pleasant for the civilians due to little freedom in everyday life.

1. What can we learn from "Tankman?" What do you think happened to him?
I think that, for the Tankman, we can learn to stand up for what is right. It might seem impossible but, you never know it could inspire a bigger uprising. cause and effect. I think that the Tankman went on with his life, I think that he probably joined the student protests.
2. what do you think are the most vital concerns facing the Chinese government and what will they do about them?
i think a huge concern for the Chinese gevernment, is their people. For so long they have been keeping a strong leash on their people and what they do, that they will probably begin to rebel.
3. What is "China A," and "China B" and what is life like for each of those groups?
We didn't get this far...
4. Should the United States continue to do business with China? Why or why not?
I think it would be illogical to not keep doing business with China, the US gets many of their supplies from china and it would be a major setback if we stopped doing business with them
5. How can Chinese people gain their freedom from censorship?
Rebel. I think they need to be like the Tankman. they need to have someone that will rebel and set an example, like the tankman. And that will hopefully spark realization in people and they too will begin to rebel.

1. What I learned from Tank Man was that people, like individuals should be brave and stand up for what they believe in. People who are subjugated by the government are scared, but what the Tank Man did was break that wall that was between the citizens and the government. So if someone was doing something wrong and a person doesn't think it's right, then like the Tank Man stand up for what you believe for. I think, the Tankman, where ever he might be is working as a normal citizen. However, I dont think that the Tank man is not living in China because of his appearance against the government, even though he faced the government, he probably went to some different country and lived there as a normal citizen. Who knows?
2. The most Concerns would be death from the Chinese Government because, when the people started to point their guns, the people started to run. Just because the Chinese Government has control over the army makes creates fear. Most humans in the world have the fear of dying or have the fear of someone close to them dying. This is the same thing that concerns the citizens of Beijing. Like one of the Asian Jornalist said, the Soldiers would execute and were very brutal. The Last thing people would want to do is to get hurt. The citizens can't really do anything about them. They would just tear through the crowd and kill people.
3. China "A" was more censorship and less freedom for the people in China, however because of the action from the Tank Man, China "B" has created more and more better environment to Chinese people. Some of the people might be living in rough conditions, but they still work to pay off their childrens' education. It was better than the 1989, where people died for fighting for freedom.
4. I think the United States should continue just because of the fact that they are getting better economy. IT is like a trade kind of thing. China gets some stuff from us and we get some stuff from them. As two of the biggest countries in a world, USA should continue to trade with the other huge country for economic growth.
5. IF the Chinese people want freedom than they can stand up for whats right just like Tank Man. Tank Man was a role model to the Chinese people and even the other people like Russia. HOwever, the Chinese people should continue to fight for their freedom just like what their fellow Tank Man did.
Hanson O.
P. 0
1) We can learn many things in form of leadership from "Tankman". First off, we could learn that you shouldn't be afraid to stand up for what you believe, even if it might result in death. Many things in life are unfair, and someone is eventually going to have to risk something in order to change it. In addition, we can also learn that one small, simple act can spark a revolution, and can ultimately change something drastically. Lastly, we could learn that corrupt government should not prevail in any country (censorship). I think that the man went on in his regular daily life, and went anonymous. Nobody found out who he was, so he was seen as just another protester.
2) The most vital concerns for the Chinese government are hardship, corruption, and repression. The Chinese government is currently communist, so what they do about these problems is cover them up, and hide them from the rest of the world. This is called censorship. China's censorship is enormous, and as far the the government, they do not really care about the problems of Chinese citizens. The Chinese government will continue to cover up their problems until they accomplish their goal, and China will remain a communist state.
3) China A is the lower class peasants, and women that work in factories for China's industry. The workers do not have any basic rights, and work 13 hours a day for 7 days a week. They earn only 120 dollars a month. However, these workers cannot quit because there is no other source of money. The factories are poor and dirty, and the workers wish the wage was better and factories were easier to work in. They do not have a voice towards the government at all. China B is the modern china, where people thrive and earn regular wages. China B is the bosses of the construction companies that do not pay the workers, and take the credit of government buildings. In the end, China A, or the workers, are at the bottom, even though they are the ones doing the work.
4) The United States should do business with China for their own well being, because if the United States doesn't, there will be no industry in the U.S. Many products and equipment will have to be traded from other countries, and will not even meet up to half of China's industry. Even though it is bad to do business with a country that uses underprivileged workers, it is impossible to stop. China is a industry powerhouse, and stopping business with China would result in a downfall of the United States' economy.
5) Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship by continuously revolting toward their government. More photographers and reporters would have to work to promote what is really going on in China, and the Chinese government would have to be altered to prevent censorship. In conclusion, Chinese people must start to overthrow their communist government, so that the real stories of China are advocated, rather then prevented, over the internet, news, etc.

1. I think that by watching "Tankman" we can learn to stand up for what we believe in without worrying about the consequences. I also believe that we can learn that it only takes one person to make a difference. I think that he might have been captured and killed, or he ran away and hid out somewhere.
2. I think the most vital concerns facing the Chinese government, is the overruling by the people. The people of China do not like the government, so hopefully they will be overruled.
3. the two groups seen in China were the urban and wealthy, and the poor, and rural people. The wealthy had it way easier than the poor. They have risen from the humblest backgrounds and have a background factory or two. The peasants, had working conditions and wages that were fall below basic, and had to suffer through working 7 days a week, 13 hours a day. Many young women are wanted more for working factories because they are young, energetic and healthy. Some of the workers will even work through the night. Average pay is about 120 dollars a month.
4. I think that the states should continue doing buisness with China because, many of our products come from China and we get them for a very low price. I think that we should bargain with the Chinese government saying that if we continue to do buisness with them, they should pay the workers more, so that they could provide for there family better.
5. i think that the chinese can gain there freedom from censorship by opppsing the government, and if more people such as the "tankman" took a stance for what they believed in, they could gain there freedom and independence. But i believe that if no one takes a stance, and if no one decides to take a step up, they will never gain there independence and freedom.

i think that tankman taught us to stand up for what is right and benefitial towards the needs and saftey of others. out of the tens of thousands of people there at tinnimen square, he was the only one man who was so fed up that he had to make his situation, as well as those of the other citizens, known to everyone. some of the problems though in china even still are the freedom of the media and what it is and is not allowed to show and inform the people. i think that even though a situation is bad, telling your country about will cause panic or whatever, but at least they cant get pissed for not knowing. ever since the 1990s, china had become a musch greater nation, the one it is today. their technology has impressively increased, their media is not censored as much, and people are happier, even though they're under the control of the govt. (communism). but even with these problems, the US should still stay in relations with china, and if they werent, both our economies and reputations would suffer. i guess the only way for the chinese to overcome censorship is for there to be more people like the tankman, making a statment for the whole people to the world.
1. The tankman was once an average person that decided enough was enough. We can learn from him that one man can make a difference. Here we saw that the tankman was capable of stopping a whole tank column by himself, and he made it out of there alive. I think that the tankman is still alive because if the chinese caught him, then they would display what they did to him inorder to stop another uprising.
2. The most vital concerns that I can see from watching the video is that the rich are rich, the medium class is struggling, and the poor are barely alive. They need to make a better living for the middle and low class citizens. This would then also help raise their economy.
3. China A is the middle class people and how they survive each day in the urbanized areas. China B is the the poor people trying to make a living off of farming with little land. Life for both types of people is extremely tough and the government needs to help make the lives better for the chinese people.
4. I think that US should continue to do business with the chinese people because our business with them helps their economy and also help them create many much needed jobs for the Chinese people.
5. The Chinese people should not try to gain freedom from censorship because it really is not effecting the main population that much. Also, if they try to use force, another massacre like the one at Tiananmen Square. Though I think that everyone should have equal rights, it is stupid to try again and only kill more people.

I think that we can learn that one person can make a difference, even in a country as large as China. In June of 1989, the tankman changed an entire generation and how they react. He went in front of an entire lie of tanks, and somehow got them to stop. I think that the tankman was killed. After all, people in China are often executed for things that are much more insignificant. After standing infront of a column of tanks again and again until being ushered off, it is very likely that he was killed. Also, if you look at the tape, the man on the bicycle, who was the first to usher off the tankman, actually waved at the take.
I think the most vital concerns facing the Chinese government are people rebelling and getting away with it. When looking at the tapes of the revolts in Tiananmen Square, you can see how the government reacted. The government reacted in violence because that is the only way that they can get the people to obey to their reactions. Also, China is such a large country that the people could probably overthrow the government if everyone really banded together. This fact most likely scares the government, which causes them to act the way that they do.
China A is comprised mostly children of the elite who have the freedom of travel. However, they do not know their recent history. When four students from the University of Beijing were shown a picture of the 'tankman', they were baffled. China B is made up of rural Chinese inhabitants, who constantly face land seizures and unemployment.
I think that the United States should continue to do business with China because China is its own country. I do not see why the United Stats would have any reason to stop business with China. How they run their country is their business. Although they do some things that are unethical, stopping business won't be a very large threat to China.
The only way that Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship is to revolt, again. However, they must do this is a way that will work better, and it must be nationwide. Although the revolt in Tiananmen Square was very large, it was not big enough to stop the government. Also, they must boycott things that will affect the government.

1. - From "Tankman" we can learn that even individual people have a voice for their own opinions. From him, the world has learned that we can stand up to oppression and injustice. I think the man was just absorbed back into the crowd and was never found again.
2. - The most vital concerns facing the Chinese government are human rights issue and freedom of speech. These two topics were the reason that the uprising in 1989 occured in the first place. I believe that unless the Communist party is overthrown, that these infractions of international law will continue to occur.
3. - In "China A", life is much better than it was 20 years ago. There has been increased economic activity due to the adoption of market economy and the overall quality of life has increased because of vast urbanization. In "China B", life has not improved at all. In some ways, quality of life has actually decreased, making it harder for the majority of China's citizens to maintain a level of life hospitable by international human rights standards.
4. - We should continue to do business with China because they are fast becoming one of the world's largest economic and political leaders. If we give up our relationship with them, we lose lots of increased demand for products and prices with increase for many of our daily needs, due to them being manufactured cheaply in China.
5. - Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship by attempting to overthrow the harsh laws placed on them by the Communist Party through peaceful protest and international outcry. Even though the possibility of freedom of speech being reached is very slim, there is a small shimmer of hope for Chinese citizens, but only if they attack this problem peacefully and dipolomatically.

1. Tankman was pretty courageous. It sucks he was executed. He should have been praised. The other tanks behind the first one were stupid because they didnt move from behind but whatever. He could have died right then and there but he didnt so he had guts, but they weren't good enough since he was executed. The government shouldnt be allowed to do that. They should get out of their communist ways.
2. The government thinks they can take over everyones rights. That sucks. Everyone should just move and then we could bomb china. The people should try to overthrow the government and give the people more rights. The government should not be communist. I think that is what is pushing them to take away rights and stuff.
3. Life must have sucked. You wouldnt be able to do anything. I would be so pissed off. I wouldnt kill myself like the others tried but i would attack the government and make a cult. In the poor places with the workers it must suck because all their products that they are producing dont go to them, they go to big cities. In Beijing and stuff its pretty cool. They have stuff lik McDonalds so it must be amazing. They are like an everyday city in the US but they still dont have access to the tragedies happening in the other side of the country.
4. Yahoo and google shouldnt comply with china just for the business. Those companies should treat every country equally and china shouldnt hide things from their citizens cause that is being a jerk face, and no one likes jerk faces. Those big companies shouldnt do business with china or any other communist country because they hide stuff from their citizens and thats not cool.
5. The chinese citizens could gain freedom by overthrowing the government and unlimiting what they can search on the web and what not. They have no clue whats going on therefore the government has so much power that the citizens didnt even know they could have that much. The citizens need to toughen up like the tankman. They all should get together and overthrow the government so that the government cant murder all of them.

1. I can learn that you should stand up for what you think is right, even if your standing alone. He made a difference because he actually tried to do something about the tanks, unlike the other people who just think it's bad, he took action. He looks like a regular man, and I think he just disappeared or someone maybe took him. I really don't know, it's weird how they never found him after though.
2. The most vital concerns facing the Chinese government is that they are some what split into two parts, and have different types of government. One part does not want them to know anything about Tank Man and their government is in charge of everything, the people have no say in anything. And I feel the government was struggling with trying to hide it from his people because it was on the news and everywhere, but yet his citizens didn't find out. It's not the right thing to do though, well that's my opinion.
3.China A is a group and their life is pure work. They work for their lives, and the young are usually the one's that work because they have more energy and healthier. They work everyday and earn about 120 dollars a month. China B is another type of government that China had. They were controlled by the government and had no idea what was going on with Tank Man and how he stood in front of the tanks. When they showed the image to some students they did not have anything to say about it, they just stood there and stared in amazement. The government from there was in charge of the media and blocked everyone in that part of China from knowing what was really going on.
4. I think that the United States should not continue to have business with China because they have different types of government and I mean we could get our things from somewhere else. I feel that the United States does not need to deal with all these issues and needs to be informed with everything that is occurring in the world. I feel that China is not doing right by having one side totally not know about what is going on in their country when it's the same country, it just doesn't make sense to me.
5. I think Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship by seeing what others have done in order to stand for what they believe is correct and do the same. Because it would not make any sense if you have no saying in what they are going to do, if it affects you in any way. The Chinese people should learn from the tank man, that you should stand up for what you believe it correct. You need to raise your voice in order to be heard, and doing that will help them gain freedom.

1. "Tankman" has taught us (the citizens of the world/ freshman MUN) to stand up for what you believe, the power of an individual's actions, and that anyone can be heroic, brave, or selfless. the "Tankman" stood uo against the injustices that Chinese demonstrators felt in 1989, even though he was standing alone. he has taught us hat no matter how small, your actions can have the hugest impact on a person's life or even the course of history. the "Tankman" is presumed to have been an ordinary person, yet his actions are regarded as those of a hero, as especially brave, couragious, and selfless.
2. the most vital concern facing the Chinese government today is acceptance into the global community. the Chinese government will do all they can to be recognized as a global power, this includes admittance into the World Trade Orginzation, no longer being viewed as a human rights violator, and improving the quality of life for all chinese citizens.
3. China A: the high class, urban chinese. these citizens enjoy life in urban areas, shopping, entertainment, and westernized life.
China B: peasents and farmers of undeveloped or rural areas in China, migrant workers in urban areas, factory workers, construction workers, and workers in "speialized" cities which focus on a specific product.
4. the United States should continue to do buisness with China. the U.S is all for Democracy and freedom to the people of the world, the only way to achieve this is to see the other side this will provide better understanding of how to acheive their goals in these places.
5. the chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship by developed and free countries fixing it! do the chinese even know they are being censored? no! they have no way of knowing the information that is restricted to them. they therefore cannot fight for the freedom of censorship if they do not know that they are being denied this freedom.
Kathryn Reuter
Period 3
1. I think that we can learn a very important lesson from "Tank man" about standing up for our believes and not letting other people's oppressions stand in our way. He wasn't afraid to stand up for what he believed in even though he was hypothetically standing up against an impossible force to beat. This event makes me think about the passage from the bible about David and Gallith; a small boy fighting a giant with a rock and sling shot. This microscopic human in this huge world stood up to the giant Chinese government and used his feeble courage as a weapon. We need to learn that every small change and impact we leave is important in its own way.
2. I think a very big concern is the censorship the chinese government is putting on their people. They don't have the right of free speech or the liberty of gaining the truth from their government.
3. China A is the the rich and economical part and China B in the relatively poor and working class part of China. China A gets to metaphorically live in the lap of luxury compared to China B where they have to work hard and long hours to bring home food for their family.
4. The United States relays on China for many things in trade. It is almost not physically possible to stop doing business with China but ethically we should stop. Working with them almost encourages them to continue working in their communist and oppressionist ways, which we, as moral US citizens, do not agree in.
5. I believe that the Chinese people will not gain freedom in the near future from censorship, but slowly working for their freedom through court cases and such might work. If the US steps and and helps the chinese citizens, it might go faster.

1. I think that Tankman was very brave because he stood up for his country and tried to stop what was happening. It teaches us to help the country the best we can and that one person may make a difference. Tankman probably just went back to ordinary life because no one knew who he was, so even if he was right next to you, you wouldn't even know.
2. I think the most vital concern is overpopulation. There are so much people and less jobs that if people get fired, it will be really hard to get a job back because others will get their place. And people who are becoming to get old get fired because many youngsters are finding jobs and they are more powerful.
3. China A is the city type of government with all the buildings. They also richer than the people in China B which is with all the farming.
4. I think that the United States should continue working with China and that most things have "made in china" on it. The US does need to be more careful since there are so many products coming in, you never know if there are any problems.
5. I think a way that China can gain freedom is by standing up for their country just like Tankman and prove that they want freedom in their country. However, gaining freedom for censorship may not be possible.

1. I can learn from Tank Man that many people do what they believe is right. Even though they have fears they still face and confront them. He did what no other Chinese citizen would ever dare to do. This Chinese man could have been found by the officials and probably hidden away from everyone else. We really don't know what could have happened to him.
2. The most vital concerns facing the Chinese government is the way the government censors everything their Chinese people want to know. They don't want to give them the free of speech or do things they would want to know. The governments struggle to keep things hidden away from all the Chines people. The government tries their best to find out those who know something and try to take it out of them.
3.China A is a group and life depending only on work. They work all their lives; the young ones are the one's that work because they have more energy and healthier. Group A works really hard and only receive 100 dollars a month. China B is another type of government that China had. They were controlled by the government and had no idea what was going on with Tank Man and how he stood in front of the tanks. The government from that part of China did not want them to know anything that is going on to the other side.
4. I think that the United States should still continue with their business in China. We are still going to depend on the things that China has to offer us. Many of the things China gives us we can't find no where else. We may not believe what China believes, but we will still need things from them. Trading with them lets us see how their country is controlled and see how our country is grateful to have the freedom we do have.
5. I think Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship by seeing what others have done in order to stand for what they believe in. The Chinese people could try to be heard from all the things other regular people have done. Like the Tank Man he was a regular man who stood up against the tanks because he knew that what they were doing was not right. All Chinese people should find out the true and try to do something about it. There are a few people around China that do know what the government is doing and should tell to the other Chinese people.

1.)Tankman taught us many valuable things just by standing in front of a tank. Because he stood up for what he believed in, he has inspired us to not have no fear in doing what we believe. Not only did the Tankman do what he believed was the right thing to do, he did it knowing that it could possibly cause his life to end. It truly is a shame that this man has not been able to be identified because he is definitely a true hero. It has crossed my mind that maybe he is still out there and purposely not showing himself to the people because of the own reward in doing what is right.
2.)I believe the most vital concern the Chinese government is facing is the uprising of their citizens attempting to form a better society. This problem has already been attempted to be solved by allowing only certain education on certain topics to be addressed to the citizens of China. This is really sad that the government has believed this to be the best possible solution.
3.)China A and B are complete opposites. While China A shows all the amazing buildings and advance technology, China B shows all the lower class citizens and “ghetto” life style. It is really sad to go from nice farmland, amazing buildings, and luxury foods, to poor homes, little food, and little money.
4.)The United States should not stop business with China. I do understand that we (US citizens) may sometimes take advantage of how much effort is being put to make the things that we are trading, however, we need to look at it the other way around. China highly depends on the US for trade which means if we stopped doing business with them, then who would help support the necessities of China? So, although we do need to understand how much the Chinese people work to support the daily things we use, canceling the business with China would tend to make all matters worse.
5.)The Chinese people have one major way of changing their censorship which is to uprise against the government. Now, saying this would definitely be easier said then done. Many things would need to be done before this could happen like: possibly moving out of the country and learning about all the things they have been censored from, form many groups of people to ensure this uprising will not contain only 10 people, and definitely use Tankman as an inspiration to stand up for what they believe is right.

1. I think we can learn so much from "the Tankman", but generally just to be brave and stand up for what is right and what we believe in, even if we are standing alone. I think that the government probably sought him out and executed and tortured him for embarrassing them.
2. I think the most vital concern facing the Chinese government is the happiness and satisfaction of the people, and acceptance in the world today. China will do everything they can to trick their citizens into thinking that everything in their country is perfect. China is not highly thought of in the world. So, China will do little things like the Olympics to try and stand out in a positive way. Also, China is separated into two parts, and I don't think there is much China will do about this.
3. China A is the more wealthy higher class people. They do little work and live a leisure life of luxury. China B is the middle class to poor workers. They work so hard for everything they have and everything in life is a struggle for them.
4. I don't think that the United States should do work with China because of their government, human rights, and many more. However, the U.S. relies soooooo heavily on China's products, that it would be impossible to just stop buying. On the plus side, the U.S. does stimulate their economy and provide the Chinese with jobs. If we didn't provide jobs for them, what do you think the government would have them doing, and how would the citizens thrive?
5. The Chinese can gain freedom from censorship only if the global community AND Chinese citizens took a stand together to overrule the aristocrats.

1) We can learn many stuff from Tankman. We can learn to speak up against ideas that we don't agree with and we can learn bravery. This act reminds me of Rosa Park because she refused to give up her seat. I think that the Tankman got tortured or is in jail for his acts of deviance against the Chinese government.
2) I think the most vital concerns facing the Chinese government are disapproval and riots. The riots will be because of unfair money distribution. The Chinese people eventually can't stand this unfair treatment and will fight against the government.
3) China A is an urban and wealthy China, which is basically all the politicians and government officials. China B is the poor and rural people of China. Life in China A is easy and you get a lot of money. China B is the opposite which is a hard and poor life.
4) The United States should continue to do business with China because that will make China's economy better and that will improve the United States economy. If the United States stop business with China, then there will be a huge decline of wealth in the United States and the poor people in China will just be poorer.
5) Chinese people can gain their freedom from censorship by keeping the protests on. The international community still know what is happening in China so the protester's work would not be in vain.

1. i think we can all learn from tankman and his actions. first he stood up for the people in tianemen square. He brought hope for the population and he discouraged the army and the government. I think he was a great symbol and filled everyones morale up. I think he continued his life the way it was.
2. as communism it never works because everyone has to agree on something and you cannot control people by force for long. Eventually a riot or seperation comes.
3. i think china A is too rich while China B is too poor. It is shame how the A is living it up while B in being crushed underneath. China A should now that China B helps them be so powerful. For example China A is the flower on a flower but China B is the roots. without China B, China A would be nothing.
4. we need china and that is a fact. lots and lots and lots of products are made from china and we buy it because its cheaper than other countries and its effeciant. We are a little depenedent on China but we can grow out of it.
5. They cant be free with censorship. The only way out of censorship is to overule the government and cause China to downfall. censorship is bad and the problem is using force to control people only leads to rebelious behavior.
