I don't know about you guys, but it just blows my mind that we finally have an African American president, or even a president from a different background. It just blows my mind. We have come so far from where our nation was before, and I think that it is wonderful.

I think it was great how he referenced what moralities, characteristics, and qualities our nation was originally built on. He also mentioned that we should all come together because we all have one thing in common, we are all human.

"So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:
"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet (it)."
America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations."

His words are so powerful that they make you believe in change. They make you want change. His speech was executed in perfection and it shows you the power/persuasion words have. moreover, he is indirectly blaming Bush for everything throughout his speech, and it seems like he thinks of his election as a new hope for people, which it is, but what if he messes up?? What if he isn't what everyone expects? Are his words and eloquence going to be enough?

I agree with Noël. It's interesting to watch how our nation has changed, and having an African American as our 44th president. Obama has a wonderful speech. His words are so strong and like he said, "The world has changed and we must change with it." It just makes you want change to happen, and so far we are doing well because we have a president of different race running our nation.

I think it's great how he talks about how our nation has changed and our future and the changes that will be made. It's interesting listening to they way he speaks, it's so convincing and make's you believe in everything he says. I feel he would be a good president, and make change happen like he says.

I have never been more proud to be an American, and yes i know that not saying much because I am only fourteen, byt if i was eighty i would still say the same thing.
From the very begining I was a Obama supporter. I think I convinced my neighbors to vote, but i guess we will never know because that would be illegal.
Anyways, I was watching CSPAN all afternoon yesterday because they were replaying the whole inarguation and live coverage of the ten balls that they were going to. I was proud and enjoyed it.
On CSPAN i got to watch the speechs and the prayers. They were very eloquent. I believe his speech was well done. It spoke the truth. We are in trouble but he is going to try his best to get us out of it.
Now that I am hearing the speech and not watching it, it sounds better. I believe he will succeed. All Americans should stand behind him and hope for the best. He is our president now, so we should believe in him. I am so proud. I am extremely happy.

America has gone through a very big change!! Some time ago a word such as segregation existed, where everybody was treated not equally, where the Afeican American were descriminated and now 2009 we have an African American as a president. This is a very big change that America has done, this shows that America is willing to change for better and is ready for a change! This new president may mean changes to every American, and immigran, this can mean many new opportunities, union, and liberty!

There's something about Obama that makes you smile :) i think he'll make a great president.

That sucks about the oath thing. I wish it could have gone smoothly. It almost seems sad.
Obama's got a whole lot on his plate, reconstructing foreign relations and creating new aliances and cleaning up the mess left behind for him. Not to mention that he's the first African American President! Which is soooo totally cool. That's the part that makes me extremely happy, to know that America isn't THAT close minded and uncaring.

Thanks Obama!!

For the first time in the United States of America, an African-American is elected as the highest office there is in this country; President. Yes, it is exciting that we have an African-American as a President, but do will he really accomplish much?

It is to my personal opinion, that the reason why voters voted for him was because he black, or because of powerful, but yet soothing voice. I do admitt that he does have a persuasive voice, but is there anything else is good at? Where are his experience?

As for his Inagural Address, it was a good speech overall, but where are his up-coming policies? Where are his "changes"? He said that he will unite citizens with electricity and wire poles. Okay, speaking with one another is fine, but should the people be involved with what D.C. is cooking up. And shouldn't the people also be involved with their state representatives, afterall, they did vote for them to work for them; not for themselves, but for the people

Judge me if you want, but I believe that it would have to take at least two terms as President to clean up Bush's mistakes. If Obama does come up with plans, he going to have to face opposition by Left and Rigth Wingers. But there good things about Obama, such as: he is person to relate to, he encourgaes the people to never look at defeat.

So in summarization:
President Obama, think quick on your feet, before critesizers eat you up with no mercy

i am so happy!! no i can call bush an idiot without the secret service coming after me!!! haahaa, just kidding. but seriously, bush screwed this country to peices, and we need an insanely strong leader to fix in four years everything he messed up in eight- a person like obama. they are different parties, but they both swore into office. Bush's swearing in went withough a hitch, and yet he still stuttered on the words- his first act as president. he also gave a terribly long and boring speech no one can remember, and despite his speech writers he still managed to mess it up. obama's speech was completely different. the swearing in started wron g, but obama had memorized the entire thing and went on like nothing happened. his speech was one of the shortest ones in history, yet it was so intense and emotional everyone will remember it. obama hit the ground running, and has kept every single promise so far. he puts his trust in the american people and beleives in us, unlike bush. he pulled one of the largest young crowds on record to the polls, and made every person beleive they made a difference. he may pause alot in his speeches, but his voice is full of hope and his speeches are amazing. we as america voted for change and got it- be it through ideas, parties, age, or even race. and yet there are many people who do not beleive he can do his job, who think he is to young and inexperienced, who think he is a socialist. if he wants to prove he can do his job, he's going to have to let the amaerican people put their faith in him before he can put his faith in us. he expects more from the citizans then they are likely to give him. and yet, already he is changing things, and showing that he keeps his promise. it is not to much to ask us to do the same. as long as obama watches his back and doesnt let america fall on it's butt, he will be a great president.

I personally watched this live in Mrs. Robinsons 2 Perioid English class, saw it 2 more times, and read the speech itself. Inauguration all together was fantastic, even though the oath didnt go to well with the minor screw ups the speech itself made me think. The part I liked the best was when he was talking about the snow, stained with blood. I loved how he used vivid descriptions and how he wants to put George Washingtons words to effect.

Great Job Obama!!~

Wow. That's all I can say. Wow. In the beginning of his campaign route, Obama didn't appeal to me. I only agreed with his promise to take the troops out of Iraq, but the rest of his policies were unclear and didn't sound like they would work. But as the year progressed, I began to notice his speeches more and understand exactly what he was talking about. I am a full Obama supporter, and will be until the end.

Now, to talk about his speech. I think that even though it was brief, it was one of the most powerful speech any president has ever given. I am inspired by his words of hope and the spirit he brings of unity in this country. I especially like the part where he says, " we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America." These words of hope and inspiration are what will help us to regain our status in the world, and make ourselves a unites nation.

African Americans have been segregated in America for decades of years. Now that Martin Luther King Jr. has set some sort of freedom to America, Barack Obama will finish his will to created freedom for other ethnicity.

The inaugural speech that Obama had spoken was something that brought hope for all of America. Now that Obama has done his Presidential Oath, he is our first African American President.
Congratulations, Obama.

i think that president obama had a great speech and held himself well throughout the ceremony. however, i think that many of his supporters dont look deeper than his promise for change and his message for a better america. i think that his immense popularity has definatley helped him into office and am looking forward to seeing how he plans to do these things he has promised. i hope that through any challenges and obstacles he will face, the american people will not lose their faith and support in him, even if things do not seem to get better immediatly

I belive President Obama's speech was about hope and change. At first he was saying that he would make change but, in his inaugural speech he said we America need to make changes not just him. This a very important because our country needs the help of everyone to recover our economy.

I am very happy that we have an African American president. This proves that anyone can run for president.

Congratulations President Obama

This is such a memorable moment for our country. We have proved to ourselves and other nations that we can be led by people of different backgrounds. I believe that our own nation will be viewed more differently by other countries because we have proven that we accept change.

Also, I believe that president Obama's speech was excellent and that he addressed many of the things people were hoping he would talk about. In addition, when he said that we must all work together in order to change our economy and our country's major issues, it has really showed that the people of the United States are really the ones who take control of our country. This is truly a memorable moment for our country and I am waiting for new history to be made as President Obama leads this country into success and prosperity.

Go Obama!!!
His speech inspires many to make changes in America. Wow the first African American president all we need a Latino. It shows here that
America is going step by step to get rid of racism and allow many opportunities for many. Other countries now are seeing that America are making huge changes and believe they could also become differently and respect differences. His plans for America could end up happening for all the supporters he has recieved and gained. He is probably a very inspiring president that America needed.

Obama's inagural adderess was amazing.Did you see how many people were there? It's unbelievable that for the first time we have an african american president. At first i really wasn't interested in the whole president election, but then i heard everything that they wanted to do to change our country, which by the way was messed up thanks to president bush.
At this point i think everyone expects so much of Obama, that in his speech he reminded everyone that he alone can't change the world, we all have to work together in order for change.
I'm very excited and curious to how his term will go, and if he'll do whats right for the united states and for all of its inhabitants.
Good luck and Congratulations president Obama!!!!!!!!!!1

im not very into this political stuff but one person cant change the world. that person needs to get a whole bunch of people to do it with them. obama is doing fine but he should have told us thAt we have to do the work while he calls all the shots. he and his team can make a difference but we need to get out of our crappy economy.

I think it so great to see how much America has changed over the years, from people being better than the african americans, then slavery, and now we have an African American president. Finally, "Change is here". I not only feel proud to be an american but i am also honored to have Obama as our president.

I feel that Obama will do many great things as our President, and am curious as to how he will handle different events through out the years to come.

I think that America has finally matured for choosing an African-American as the 44th president. We have grown up and have almost become reasonable human beings. I think that Obama has lots of good ideas to restore our crashing economy. However many people think that they are going to wake up the next morning and that the new president will fix what has been broken. however these people need to understand that one person cannot change the world on their own. obama is our leader and if we follow his example and his plans and ALL DO OUR PART THEN THE WORLD WILL MOST DEFINITELY BE A BETTER PLACE. but you cannot expect one person to give you the job and life you always dreamed of to everyone in the country.

Obama will change the US. But we never know if the outcome of change is bad, so we'll just have to see. Other than that, I think he was the right candidate for president, and his speech was great. I'm still amazed at how much support he has, and that he has created history of being the first African American president. Crazy.

I personally admire President Barrack Obama greatly. It isn't because he is the first African-American president, but it is because his speaking is AMAZING. he has a way of speaking to the crowd, no matter who the crowd is, that makes you want to listen. You can't help but hang on to EVERY word that comes out of his mouth.
This speech of his was written greatly and it is crazy that he was able to memorize all of it. He makes great points and has believable plans to some of the problems here in America. He makes a point to say "We will......" rather than "I will...." because he wants America to know that we all have to work together to improve the country. He isn't superman, he can't do it all on his own and no one should expect him to.

Oh my goodness. This was such an amazing historical moment. I just think it so incredible that just about a two decades ago, almost everyone was still very racist and prejudice. Everyone made african americans sit in the back of the bus, they sparated black from white and made different and cheaper things for blacks. Now everyone is finally starting to see that everybody is equal. i am honestly surprise that no ne form the KKK has tried something on him. I know that probably sounds really bad, but there are still people in this world who do not agree with modern times. For example my great grandfather didn't like my mom becuase she was mexican, and he didn't like me nor my brother. But all in all, this has been a mammorable year. With the electoral election to the inaguration. He is a wonderful speaker and i know he will make choices for the better.
